I'm interested in understanding the nature of the Higgs boson. Thomas Kuhn claimed that "something like a paradigm is necessary for perception itself." I use data from the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland to test whether nature agrees with the reigning paradigm of the Standard Model.

I search for an exceptionally rare process that produces two Higgs bosons (or "di-Higgs"). To expedite this search, I design the algorithms for identifying b-jets.

Foundation models are an emerging paradigm that scales up our models and training data to extract insights beyond what we previously imagined to be possible. ChatGPT is trained on human data to maximize human satisfaction. For a scientific foundation model, we need interpretable building blocks with meaningful error bars. My research vision is to fully utilize the lowest-level sensor data to extract insights about the Higgs boson.
